Leírás

We launched the Community-Organising-Leadership program (2016-2026), to support community initiatives in Hungary. We helped local communities acquire tools that will allow them to successfully

  • organize their own communities,
  • explore their common needs,
  • map their opportunities,
  • build their advocacy,
  • plan their joint actions,
  • to win their common causes.

When the program was launched, we saw that the lives of Hungarian civil society organizations and communities had changed significantly. Their external environment – for example, legal and financial – had changed, and the cohesion and sustaining power of local communities had decreased. The people behind most organizations were slowly eroding, and both organizations and individuals were taking on less and less of a role in the management of their communities.

However, for the civil sector to function effectively and fulfill its mission in building healthier societies, active people are needed. People, who are ready to participate and engage for the common good with their time, actions, voice and money.

In recent years, the supported groups have brought several local causes to success, many of the community organizers trained in the program are still active today, the groups they created are still operating, and the methodology developed here lives on in other programs.

Our professional partner in the program was the Civil Kollégium Foundation.
