The government has submitted a third version of the "Stop Soros" law package to Parliament without any consultation; the draft would use criminal law as a weapon against human rights defenders. It threatens those who legitimately act in defense of Hungary's human rights obligations with imprisonment. Although earlier versions were also scandalous, threatening humanitarian and legal assistance with jail time is unacceptable in a democratic state. CSOs presented their position on the bill, and expressed their protest at a spectacular action in front of the Parliament organized by Amnesty International and also joined by Ökotárs.
