In the second round of the Free Media Grant program aiming to protect the freedom of the press, 20 proposals were submitted, of which 16 proposals met the formal criteria. 7 independent national media outlets received funding according to the decision of the US Embassy in Budapest, totalling HUF 30 425 900.

The program was implemented in cooperation with the Mérték Media Monitor and funded by the US Embassy in Budapest. The Grant's purpose was to enable media professionals to produce new, high-quality content, get more professionalized, implement their ideas to a high technical standard and secure their operations from both a legal and administrative point of view.
