Announcement of Results - Free Media Grant Program

Following approval by the US Embassy in Budapest, the decision on the applications received for the 3rd call for proposals has been made by Mérték Media Monitor and the Ökotárs Foundation.

A total of 42 applications were received by the deadline. Of these, 36 applications were submitted for "strengthening and improving the sustainability of local and national independent public media" (category A) and 6 for "implementing media literacy and education and journalism training programmes" (category B). Based on the decision of the Embassy of the United States of America, the following 26 applications (22 category A, 4 category B) were awarded grants for a total amount of 173 178 230 HUF:

In the coming days, the Ökotárs Foundation will send all applicants an individual notification by e-mail.

We are committed to ensuring that the support will:

  • contribute to the creation of new content
  • enable media professionals to develop professionally
  • enable them to implement their ideas at a high technical level
  • enable them to sustain their operations from both a legal and administrative perspective
  • enable civil society organizations to contribute to strengthening the independent public sphere through media education programs.

The grant is implemented by Mérték Media Monitor and the Ökotárs-Hungarian Environmental Partnership Foundation, with support of the Embassy of the United States of America in Budapest.
