Ways of financial support
Contributing to the Small Grant Fund / Establishing Specific Purpose Funds
You can contribute to the improvement of our environment efficiently through the fast, flexible and transparent open grant system of Hungarian Environmental Partnership Foundation (HEPF). Based on our 15 years experience we manage cost-effective national and transboundary (through our CEE sister foundations) grant-management programs on the field on environment. Individuals and companies can contribute to the Small Grant Fund or establish a Specific Purpose Fund to donate projects at the following fields:
- Energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.
- Non-motorised, environmental-friendly transportation development, promotion;
- Waste-prevention and reduction
- Public Place development and rehabilitation;
- Greenways and sustainable rural development;
- Small scale habitat and species protection, Landscape reconstruction;
- Actions, campaigns, festivals and other awaraness raising
We support 90 to 100 proposals per year, but the number of interesting, high level requests is much higher. The avarage grant size is 1500 USD (cca 300 000 HUF). By donating 4500 USD you can support 3 new initiatives, with 15 000 USD you can help the work of 10 outstanding organisation.
Contributing to the endowment campaign of HEPF
Originally foundations are organisations supporting public benefit activities from the yields of the Foundation's endowment. Building an endowment or reserve fund will allow us to maintain our independent funding sources that are made available to NGOs in Hungary. In order to put the foundation on a firm financial basis, its capital should reach at least USD 10 million in the coming years. From 2004, this effort is becoming more intensive and more important than ever before in the life of HEPF. Thanks to the cost-effective operation and our foregoing fundraising activities we already possess 15 percent of this amount.
By donating to the endowment you help us to build our own capital which yields will be spent in harmony with our mission. The endowment resources have to be saved; only the yields produced by the capital can be spent/distributed.
Ways of non-financial support
Financial donation is not the only way you can support our activities. Other forms are welcomed and appreciated as well. You can help also by:
Tangible gifts
Your tangible gift can improve or make easier our working conditions (technical equipment for our office, a car for site visits of our grantees, etc.) or can support other organizations/individuals. Thanks to our long-term grant-making experience and deep understanding of many Hungarian NGOs needs we are able to deliver your gifts to the right people.
Free service
Our work requires several services provided by other organizations e.g. offline/online media outlets, telecommunication services, web hosting, media monitoring, car rental etc. Some of our suppliers kindly provide their services for us with a significant discount or free of charge.
Volunteering
Volunteer help is an inseparable part of the Foundation's operation. Even the fundamental body of the Foundation are based on it - members of the Board of Trustees work for the Foundation without claim of compensation.
- Creative, PR and Marketing guidance: occasionally we need external experts to help strengthening the foundation's image beyond the civic sector.
- Desktop publishing, printing: experts are most welcome to help in publishing our annual reports and other publications and books issued by th e foundation.
- Organisation monitoring: An important element of our user-friendly grantmaking system is that we visit the aspirants personally before the grant decision. These field visits are helping to collect more deeper and hionest information about the organisations and their operation. Environmentally committed people with good NGO knowledge may help us in these activities.
- Program assistance: Managers of the Grant program, Greenways and Civil-Partner are always happy to receive help from posting to study writing.
HEPF is an outstanding public benefit organisation thus any donation can be deducted from tax according to the operative law. The names and logos of our supporters are shown on our printed and online materials (eg.: annual reports, website, e-newsletter).
